Quick Germany questions
If anyone could help me out I would appreciate some feed back. 1-what’s the best way to get from Munich airport to my hotel? 2- is it better to have cash or a pre paid credit card for spending? &3- what is the quickest (or easiest) route from Munich to vienna? Thank you

Hi barber312,
The S1 or S8 link the Munich airport to the city, and they run about once every 10 minutes. The ride for each takes about 45 minutes into the city. Where us your hotel located? You may want to ask them the best way to get there from the airport.
Cash remains king in Germany. Some big and/or touristy restaurants will accept credit cards, but some restaurants won't. Ditto with shops. Most places that do take credit cards will only do it for amounts over a certain € figure.
Quickest way to Vienna is the train, with a direct connection leaving Munich at 09.30 and arriving at 13.30. Buying the ticket a few months in advance, the 2d class fare is 19,90€.
Have fun as you plan!

Debit card is not a credit card. An EC card is not an American credit card. I've lived south of Munich for 10 years, and cash is still king. It is changing, with more restaurants and shops accepting cc, but not all. For instance, until a few years ago, we had to pay for an 800€ season ski pass with cash or debit card. And still today, you have to spend more than 200€ in the electronics store to use a cc.
Use the cc for big restaurant meals and the hotel of course. You can use cc for public transport. But a small lunch meal, a coffee & cake, a taxi.... you might have problems with a cc.

Munich-Vienna yes best by train - quicker than flying really all told and can be really cheap if you book well in advance to nab deep discounted tickets - limited in number so book as soon as www.bahn.de/en lets you - 60 or 90 days out I think but check. discounted tickets are train-specific however and can't be changed so be sure of your times and don't miss train but full fare is so so much more. www.seat61.com has great tips on booking own tickets online - general train info like 1st v 2nd class also check www.ricksteves.com and www.budgeteuropetravel.com.
