Questions on Toledo

Hi, would appreciate any help on the following questions on our visit to Toledo :

1. How much should we budget for a taxi from the train station to where we are staying - the Hostel Santo Tome ?

2. How much does a ticket on the tourist train/tram cost ? Is it possible to reserve a ticket in advance for a specific time in the evening as we have read that the views are spectacular at that time, or are tickets sold only for current rides ?

3. We arrive in the morning from Madrid and will spend the night before returning to Madrid the next day. I understand that it is possible to take a bus from Toledo to visit the windmills at Consuegra, which looks really fascinating. Any more info/advice/suggestions on this excursion ? Will it be doable in the afternoon, leaving us the morning and evening in Toledo ?

Thanks for all your help.

There are several trains each day between Madrid and Toledo. The cost is 8.60 one-way, but you can save a little by booking a round-trip.

You should reserve you tickets in advance and pick them up when you land in Spain.

The taxi should cost you under 20 euros from the station.

Sorry, but can't help you with the bus.

Toledo is worth the whole day just being there. There's no sense traveling there just to leave for the day. you can take a bus from the train station or bus station up to the old town. Not very expensive. If you're staying at a Hostel, I would imagine a taxi is not for you.

bus is probably 1 euro/ 1.5 and the taxi couldn´t be much more than 8-10.

The TRAM, if i recall, is about 3 or 4 euros.
yes, you must get tickets once there from a little not well marked shop, and THEN go to the tram itself.

I imagine you can buy the ticket for the time you prefer if you get there early enough.

they were not selling tickets ON the tram, much to many´s despair when it arrived.

Hey guys, thanks for those replies, thats great. I have managed to ascertain that there are regular buses plying between Toledo and Consuegra. So I will have to take a call on whether to stay in Toledo for the afternoon or venture out for this excursion.
Rastaguytoday obviously votes for the former, any other thoughts on this ?
Thanks again.

Plenty to see in Toledo, but if you MUST venture to Consuegra for the photo.. (nothing else ) then remember that it is also quite magical at NIGHT lit up, so do not be afraid to do this excursion hooking up with a night-time return. if it exisits.
