Question about the 14 day Bavarian Palaces ticket
It looks like the 14 day Bavarian Palaces ticket is cost effective if you plan to enter at least three of the castles/palaces. But from looking at the web sites, it appears that if you want timed admission to Neuschwanstein or Linderhof, you have to buy those tickets separately. True? We are going to be there in mid-July, and I understand that it makes a lot of sense to buy timed tickets for Newschwanstein at that time of year.

We bought the 14 day pass at the first place we could, which was in Bamburg. I had to ask for it, as there was no notice about it there. We did not reserve any timed tickets in advance & everything worked out O.K. Yes, the 14 day pass is a bargain!

Great question, missypie. If you have the pass can you just show up and get in? That doesn't seem right. So how can you get a timed entrance in advance without paying for a ticket (which you have already done by buying the pass)?

There are timed English tours at each of the castles and you need to coordinate with them. At Neuschwanstein they are on railroad-like efficiency with a digital clock that only allows you to get into the line for the tour at the right time.
We bought the castle pass at Herren Chiemsee and it was good for H.C., Neuschwanstein and Linderhof but not for Hohenschwangau for some reason. I also thought it was supposed to be good for Koenigsee but that turned out to not be true.

Go to www.schloesser.bayern.de for a complete listing of those places for which the pass is valid. And, yes, in Füssen only Neuschwanstein is included. St Bartholomew's Church on Königsee is also part of the Verwaltung, but admission is normally free. The boat on the lake, if that is what you were thinking of, is not included in the pass.

I posed the pass & reservation question in an email to the Schlösser Verwaltung. Hopefully they will answer me in a couple of days. They have always answered my questions in the past. Meanwhile, might I suggest that you call the Hohenschwanstein Ticket-Center at (49) 83 62 9 30 83 0. There should be someone there who speaks English, although they may put you on hold while that person gets to the phone.
