Question about Lake Saoseo
I have in my notes ~
To get to Lake Saoseo you drive over the Bernina Pass, park your car at the hotel/restaurant Sfazu and hop on the small bus that takes up into Val da Camp, to the mountain hut Saoseo (the stop is called 'Lungacqua'). From there it's just a half hour or a bit more to hike to the lake, so you can even extend the hike to the other lakes beyond lake Saoseo.
Check the schedule for the small bus, you MUST make a reservation in advance. It leaves Sfazu at 9.35 and 10.35 am, back from Lungacqua 3.22 and 4.22 pm.
So my question is, about how much time should I allow to drive from Waldhaus to Hotel Restaurant Sfazu?

It is almost 50 km one way. I'd say calculate an hour minimum, better more. If you leave the Waldhaus at 9 am then you should arrive in time. Don't forget you might want to stop and take a photo along the way, or two, or three ...

Well Waldhaus starts breakfast at 7, so I plan to leave around 8 as I am sure I will also be stopping and taking pictures................and if I'm smart, I'll ask at Waldhaus if they know if there's roadwork on the road!

It depends. I highly recommend you *walk* back to Restaurant Sfazu - it's downhill and the walk is quite enjoyable. If you don't want to walk then take the bus 3.22 pm from Lungacqua, arriving 3.40 at Sfazu (again, reservation required).
You find the hours for the Diavolezza cable car here:

I'd say it's doable. And since you'll have a pass for using the cable cars for free I recommend you give it a try. The drive Sfazu - Diavolezza should be a half hour, so you'll have enough time. Just try to catch the cable car at the full (or half) hour or you have to wait too long.
