Place des Voges used to be one of my favorite magic spots. But last June I brought my girlfriend who had never been there. To my horror it became everyone else's secret spot too! (Kind of like the fabled secret fishing hole or surf spot.) That really wouldn't be a problem for me, except people were leaving their fast food TRASH everywhere. I liked it better when they didn't let you sit on the "Pelouse" (lawn), just the benches. It was elegant, the way they designed that particular square to be. Now I have my new favorite secret spot to just hang out in. Not many tourists there, but lots of French people lazing the day away (on lawn or benches). I won't say where it is, but it is a public park. My suggestion: be adventerous and explore the city! Ask advice from French people. They are happy to share if they sense you are genuine and respect their culture. YOu will then find secret spots of your own, and they will be very special to you. Good luck!

Wear some red, white and blue. It's also the French colors. Have a good trip and don't worry.

When I was in school in France years ago (in Grenoble), I visited a friend of mine in Paris during the spring break. She took me to a really great place, so surprising to find tucked behind ordinary buildings. Les Arenes de Lutece. You can find it on any Paris map. Few go there, but you'll see what I mean.

Don't change your appearance. Be yourself. Be proud of your American heritage---without your American ancestors you wouldn't be able to visit France---it would be called Germany!

WELL know that it would be germany. However i just dont want to put myself in any danger. I am only a teenager and i, like most americans, wont ever forget my ""americaness"" haha so to speak. I will always be proud on my country but i dont want to die just yet.
