I agree, P_M. I wrote to the editors about that as well, and was distressed to see how long it took them to remove the thread.

I think that many of us in fodorville have developed an ear for trolls. After you read 10 or 20 thousand posts, you really notice that certain types of questions or language sound "off."

Sometimes a troll posts a question that turns into an interesting or informative discussion, in which case, who cares?

It seems to be virtually impossible to prevent the determined troll from re-appearing on this forum, especially if they have access to a different computer at work or at a friend's. Still, they go away eventually, on to their next plan for world domination.

fainaa, i was horrified by the insult on the sink stopper post yesterday. that was pretty near the worst nastiness i have yet to see here.

P_M are you sure that's not Carlll who is cyberstalking around on the U.S. board today with that stupid hotdog thread?

Suze, I've thought of that and yes, I think it is Carlll who made the sink stopper comment. If there's any way possible they need to block that person for life. In fact, I can't believe he hasn't been blocked yet today. I'm not convinced Carlll is purgaowner, but you never know.

I agree wholeheartedly that nasty, bashing and solicitous messages should be removed and the poster banished. People who use reasonable judgment to complain are good souls that are trying to keep morality afloat. Everyone used to be that way, and the country was a much better place.

I get the feeling that Carlll is a precocious 11 or 12 year old.

I see all of Carlll's posts are now gone. He admitted that he has used some 35 or so different names posting on Fodors and seems proud of the fact he is obnoxious. Shall we guess what name he will use next?

Well, if he/she/it is as clever as "Purgaowner" perhaps Carlll's new name will be "Carllll"

re Carlll... Definitely a male. Thankfully the $12 hot dog ripoff waitress bashing post was deleted. Wasn't following the Purgaowner saga.

It isn't gone, it is just using it's other screen name....It is also asking about speaking with a Castilian accent, how many unsuspecting people will answer that one?
