Public transportation from St-Jean-de-Luz to San Sebastian

Will be spending 4 days just outside of St-Jean-de-Luz next month. We will have a car, but am interested in public transportation options to San Sebastian. This will be during the annual film festival, and parking in town will probably be difficult and expensive. More importantly, we plan to imbibe, so definitely no driving.

Any help would be appreciated.

You have two daily PESA buses or the more frequent and much faster Euskotren between close to St-Jean-de-Luz Hendaye (some 5 miles) and San Sebastián. The train from Hendaye leaves every half hour and takes 35 mins. http://www.euskotren.es/es/presentacioneuskotren

Buses all the time from St-Jean-de-Luz to Hendaye.

Or take a look at this tread: http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...ean-de-luz.cfm

We went in the reverse direction, taking the Euskotren from San Sebastian to Hendaye and then the high speed train from Hendaye to St Jean de Luz, which was only 1 or 2 stops. Very easy since the two stations in Hendaye are right next to each other.

The Euskotren service between Hendaye and San Sebastian is now called the Metro Donostialdea: http://www.metrodonostialdea.com/pub.../ctrl_home.php
The train leaves you at Amara station in San Sebastian where it is a 10 minute walk to the old town.

Wise choice not to drink and drive. The Spanish police take it very seriously, especially during events like the film festival. There will be road blocks all around the town at various points in the day with breathalysing stations.
