Public transportation at night - Amalfi Coast

Unless I'm seeing the wrong schedules, it looks like both the SITA bus and the ferry/hydrofoil services end around 7:00pm. How do people get around (outside of expensive taxis) if they want to go out to dinner (or come back from dinner) at another place in the AC different from where they are staying? (i.e. dinner in Amalfi, staying in Positano)

Well - if you want to have dinner on Capri you have to stay there overnight - or hire a private boat to bring you back to the mainland.

To go from one town to another late at night you either have to take a taxi (I would arrange in advance to be sure of availability) or drive your own car.

Hi Anni - The last bus back from Amalfi to Positano Mon-Sat is currently 10 p.m (- 9p.m on Sundays).

The current timetable is valid until 9th Sept:

Hope this helps ...

You might want to think twice about hopping on a bus right after dinner on the Amalfi coast. It's a very windy road and the buses take it fast.

If you have a destination restaurant in mind, try sampling it for lunch. For dinner, I would prefer to stroll around a bit after dinner, even if it meant the expense of a taxi. Since I like to drink wine at dinner, I wouldn't want to drive myself home.

In general, I will say that I think there is little point to doing a lot of daytripping (or night tripping) on the Amalfi coast. It is more enjoyable just to stay put in one town and relax. If you are staying in Positano, you can probably find enough very good restaurants to last your whole stay.

Hi A,

Some restaurants provide car service. Check at your hotel.
