Provence - when to see poppies and lavender

Hello: My husband and I are planning a trip to Provence this summer as our first time. We would like to be there for about 12 nights. Is there a period when we can see both poppies and lavender? Thanks for your help.

no the lavender is July-August, poppies in the spring. I love Mimosa but that is February or earlier on the Cote'D'Azur.

You can get both at the same time in mid June in the Valensole plane, if the spring weather is warm enough to get the lavender excited.

In the US, poppies are in May, lavender is in July. Same latitude = same timing---worldwide.

I don't know anything about poppies.
Lavender fields are very beautiful. We go to Provence to see them every year. The period is between June and August depending on the area.
You can find all the information in:

Around the Alpilles area (St. Remy, Les Baux, etc.) you can see fields of poppies beginning around mid to late April. Lavender - although not great fields of it, blooms mid to late June and through July

My favorite place to take guests to see the lavender is the Abbaye de Senanque near Gordes.

Thank you all for responding to my question - it's very helpful. I'm thinking I'll go in late June then.

I think so because the lavender is usually harvested between July 15 and early September. In mid August there is a lavender featival in SAULT usually it is on August 14 and 15.

Cosette: If you're in Provence in late June/early July on a Sunday, try to get to the market in Isle Sur La Sorgue. You will find many lavender related products and a general carnival atmosphere that's great fun.

Katzen,

I agree with Cigalechanta. Go to Sault. Last year I was there in first week of August and I still could see some lavender fields.

You will find poppies in different parts of France at different times -- more poppies in the north than the south. Late May/early June is the most common time to see them.
