Provence to Paris - Question

We are going to take a train from Avignon to Paris in August. We are staying at the Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais in the 4th.

I know it's too soon to purchase tickets (at least for the PREM tickets), but we wanted to kind of figure out what time we wanted to leave Provence (timetable).

I went to the SNCF site and plugged in Avignon to Paris Gare de Lyon. Is this the closest station or the best station knowing that our hotel is in the 4th? Or is there another station that is closer? We also prefer direct.

Thanks!

I think you will find that Gare de Lyon is your only choice for central Paris coming from Avignon. You would need to change to a metro line to continue by train but assming that you will have luggage I'd suggets that you would be best to get a cab from gare de Lyon.

If you take the metro, get off at Hotel De Ville. Say Hi to Alain at the Caron.

The different train stations in Paris generally handle different lines going to different areas of the country. You can't choose which of the many train stations in Paris you want to arrive at, you will have to take where the train goes.

Thank you!! My question was answered. So I will take the train from Avignon TGV to Paris Gare de Lyon.

Cigalechanta, thank you for giving me the heads up on what metro stop was nearest the Caron. That was my next question. I think we have a room without a balcony. I guess I'm on a waiting list for a balcony. Any good restaurants right in that area? It seems to be a perfect location.

Thank you again for everyone's help!!
