Guy,
I was teasing you. Didn't mean to be rude! I happen to love Provence and the RIveria as well, and typically go there every year, but these days I'm obsessed with anything that's Italian.
I do think that between the fabulous archaeological museum in Naples, Pompeii and Herculeum ,the Amalfi coast and environs culturally rivals much of what Provence/Riveria has to offer. And then, of course, there's the sensational food, but that's a matter of personal taste!
Anyway, no offense intended!...

What a refreshing break from the lemon-clad ceramics bursting from every other doorway on the A.C.!! Honestly, Nessundorma, I immediately marked it as a favorite. Are Pompeii and Naples considered the Amalfi Coast? I never thought so, but I could be wrong. Anyway, in terms of hedonism, I think it's a tie. You'll certainly find more nightclubs on the Cote d'Azur (not that I'd be interested in those.) Well, I love both places but for different reasons, as I said. There are certainly worse things to disagree about!
Weadles, certainly no offense taken, but I did think you were serious!

Guy,
I shouldn't have written hedonism. I meant to write "SENSUALITY."
But I really have no dog in this fight, being a Liguria girl myself. I think you are right that the Golfo di Napoli is not cartographically considered part of the Costiera Amalfitana, but in terms of how the tourist flies, it does seem relevant.
Weadles,
When I return to Napoli (I hope soon) I'm eager to head down to Salerno and explore parts of the costa south of Ravello and thensome.

You know, this 7000 plus euro 19c watercolor of Atrani really is quite fetching.
