Canada_V, Margie and I will be interested in seeing your report. We'll still be planning our activities for September, but the places where we'll stay will already be pinned down (we're beginning to book them now). It's looking like 5 days or so somewhere around Pézenas, a couple of nights in the Gorges du Tarn, and a bit less than a week in Arles (the artist in Margie keeps getting drawn back to Provence).

Maria via, happy to hear that you are reading CAESAR'S VAST GHOST. I would also suggest THE YELLOW HOUSE: Van Gogh, Gauguin, and Nine Turbulent Weeks in Arles by Martin Gayford which recount the tortured stay in Provence of the famous painter. So sad.

Loved the south of France and hope to return one day ...

Hi Larry - we are back and had a great time! I am currently working through the Paris section of my trip report, but will get to the south soon. We spent a day doing a canoe trip in the Gorges du Tarn, and it was by far the highlight of our trip Hope to get started on the trip report sometime within the next few days!

Canada_V, thanks for checking in here. I clicked on your name, and found the Paris report at:

I'll read it soon - too late now - and I look forward to your getting to the Languedoc section. Margie and I will be in the Gorges du Tarn in September.

Hi, Cigale. What Margie likes about it in advance is that you drive along the bottom. She's not fond of high roads along a cliff edge with no guardrails. We'll be spending three nights in La Malène - plenty of time to explore the gorge.

But now, time for bed.
