Problem with 'primary/main' destination for schengen visa
Hi,
I am planning to do a two week trip to France and Italy in early September, but due to consulates being busy I was not able to get any visa appointments with them. I finally got one with Denmark consulate here in San Francisco.
I am planning to arrive in Copenhagen, stay there for a couple of days and then fly to France and then to Italy.
I was wondering if there would be any problem with approving visa for this itinerary as my primary destination is Italy or thats where I plan to spend over a week.
I spoke to customer care of Denmark consulate at San Francisco, they scared me that usually they hear of visa rejections when the primary destination is not Denmark.
Do you guys have any suggestion on how do I do this ?
Other countries where I see a few appointments in this month are Portugal, Iceland and Norway.d

I am sorry but many of us on this board are not required to have visas to visit Schengen areas so may not have much experience with this issue. If you are traveling with a passport that requires a Schengen visa, this is the information I have found from this website https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/who...schengen-visa:
- If you are going to visit more than two Schengen countries, file your application:
- At the embassy/consulate/visa centre of the country where you will spend most days if you will be spending an unequal amount of days in each
- At the embassy/consulate/visa centre of the country where you will step first, if you will be spending an equal amount of days in each

YOU waited way too long to do this if you want to go in only a month. Italy and France are the countries with the most requests, I believe, and thus their appointment time is really long.
YOu don't mention salient points. For example, what nationality you are. YOu obviously aren't American even though it appears you live in the US. And you couldn't be from anywhere in North America, as I don't think any of those countries require visas (like Mexico, Guatemala, etc). I presume you are a legal US Resident or I don't think you can apply in the US anyway (but I'm not an expert on this). Also if you've ever had one before, I think some embassies allow you to apply by mail if you've had one before, not sure on that.
I do have several suggestions which you may not want to do but I don't know what choice you have given you didn't plan this well.
1) postpone your trip until you can get a proper appt with Italy. Nowadays, all the airlines I deal with allow you to do that with no penalty, even though the new fare may be greater. But you have some control over that, in fact, going in October or November might be better and cheaper anyway.
2) change your itinerary, so that you are spending at least the same number of days in Denmark as the other greatest place. This would just be internal plans, so is doable. YOu wanted to stay a couple days there, anyway. So maybe 5 days Denmark, 4 France, 5 Italy.
that is all I can think of, but I have never had to get this type of visa so could be wrong But I would think my options would work.
