private home accomodations

We are traveling by car... 3 weeks in July. Are private home stays available through local tourist information offices, like in other counries. What is the average price for a double with breakfast? Ive always found this a very enjoyable way to go, and a real cost saver. The spontaneity and adventuresome nature of having a car and winging it has always been appealing, and has almost never been a problem elsewhere. Please advise. thanks.... steve

Steve probably highlighted a country in the subject search box. A major design flaw of the site and not your fault,
Steve. The countries are highlighted only when you're searching, not when you're posting. All posts go to one general Europe board. They are not separated into countries. I sure wish Fodor's would change this so newbies

Now that the indexing is caught up again, it appears that Steve may have meant Sweden. He previously posted a message almost identical to this with Sweden in the the text of the question.

Regrettably, I have no actual experience to help with this question.

Best wishes,

Rex
Hmmm - - my answer does appear rather badly out of context.

It has to do with this thread:

http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1353664

also called "Private homes"

but that post mostly came across as a "help my find my lost thread" question.

When the indexing wasn't up to date, it seemed impossible to find his earlier question. But now I have topped both this thread - - and that one - - so maybe he will get some information.

Thanks for pointing out the need for clarification.
