Here is the info...

The Mercedes headed down Rue Cambon, round the anti-clockwise one way system in Place de la Concorde, and onto the right bank of the Seine, heading west.
At the end of Cours Albert1er there is a dip and a hump in the road just before it swings to the left and drops sharply into a four lane underpass at Place de l'Alma.
Also, right above the tunnel where the crash happened is a large statute of a replica of the flame from the Statute of Liberty. That was how I found it last time I was in Paris. If I remember correctly, I got there by taking a walk from the Eiffel Tower (kind of a long walk I think but it's the best way to get around Paris). You will find Place de l'Alma on any map in Paris.
You shouldn't begruge anyone for what they want to see. The same can be said for Jim Morrison's grave site and many monuments in Paris and all over the world. Why go to Napolean's Tomb. Let him rest in peace. If Bob wants to see the crash site, its his perogative.

And for those of us who visited the "Pere-Lachaise" cemetery have seen what total destruction "visitors" can do. The entire area around Jim Morrison's gravesite has been TOTALLY descrated, a complete disregard for the sacredness of those buried around and nearby!

Sorry to say...

We were in Paris in July. The flame replica statue from the Statue of Liberty has now turned into a Diana Shrine. Graffitti and flowers and little ole ladies posting signs. The Avenue George V that runs from the Champs to the Siene will run you right into the large gold flame statue on the river. The crash was in tunnel below that. They try to clean the grafitti each night, but it keeps coming back, as do the little ole ladies. The French are getting a little tired of the whole thing. Have fun....there is not much to see and good luck if you want to walk the tunnel!

Diana died while I was living in Ireland, and the funeral was on the day my best friends were getting married. People actually asked them if they were going to cancel the wedding! Please. I found the entire circus surrounding her death and funderal repulsive. Mother Theresa died a week later, and there wasn't even 1/10th of the attention placed on the death of a woman who achieved more in one day of her life than Diana did in 30+ years.
