Princes Di Memorial in Paris

Can anyone please tell me where the Princes Diana memorial in Paris is it located - i.e. nearest streets intersection, nearest metro stop, directions from metro stop, etc.? Thanks.

As far as I know there is no official memorial, only the flame of liberty sculpture near the Place de L'Alma tunnel where she died. I recently saw on the news that the sculpture has been cleaned of it's graffiti from mourners and is now enclosed by a fence to prevent further "defacing."

Larry,

The only "memorial" I am aware of is a rather impromptu one---located above the tunnel where the accident happened.

Take the metro to the Alma Merceau stop.
Coming above ground, walk toward the river. The Eiffel Tower will be to your right and on the opposite side of the Seine. (If these landmarks are in order, you are on the correct side of the river.)

About 20 feet before reaching the bridge on the right hand side of the street, there is a triangle of land that always had floweres, candles and notes in remembrance of Princess Di and Al Fayid(?). We found it by accident while going to the bateaux for a Seine River cruise, which departed from Pont de Alma.

Their permanent memorial in the lower level of Harrod's Dept. Store in London is quite special and done in good taste.

Actually, I also saw on the news that there is a small memorial garden in fromnt of a daycare center somewhere in Paris, but it isn't well marked and there isn't much there to indicate that it is dedicated to Princess Diana other than it contains a species of roses named for her. I didn't pay enough attention to the report to remember where in Paris it is.

There is a golden flame statue at the entrance to the Pont D'alma tunnel that has been appropriated by Diana tributes.

It has flowers and suchlike placed by it.

Its actually a replica of the flame on the statue of liberty and is to commemorate the fact that the French gave the US the statue.

As you will note, this is an old thread but the latest one of three that I could find here. Four years later, what's the latest status? If there is a memorial, where might it be?

There is no memorial. The replica of the Flame of Liberty, which has nothing to do with Diana, was cleaned up and enclosed by a fence long ago to discourage further vandalism. For a time after her death the area was clogged with junk and vandalism left by her groupies (particularly the Flame of Liberty), but that seems to have settled down and the area has been clean for years now.
