Has anyone been to the annual San Gennaro Festival in Praiano? I read that it is coming up on September 18th and is a tradition in that town. I would like to visit there while I am on the Amalfi Coast.

The festival in NYC's Little Italy is foodies delight with many food booths and rides etc.... I kind of doubt that Praiano's would be like that but I'll bet it's good fun.

The big festival of San Gennaro is of course in Naples and the festival in Praiano will centre around the church of San Gennaro with local music a small fair and finishing with fireworks in the Evening. Each small town or village celebrates it's Saint day

Gerardo: Do you know if the festival day is Sat Sept 18 OR Sun Sept 19? I have read conflicting dates online and wondered which one was accurate? (I don't want to go to Praiano on the wrong day!)

The date of the saint day of San Gennaro is always the 19th,however it might be that they have the festivities on the Saturday.The local commune publishes a list of the festivities and puts posters around the area and if I see one I will let you know,otherwise do a search for one of the hotels in Praiano and they will definately be able to tell you nearer the date.
