I would do a minimum of 3 days each in Prague, Budapest and Vienna - 4 or 4 if you want to do day trips outside the city. We took the train from Budapest to Vienna, which was easy and took about 5 hours I think. We flew from Prague to Budapest becasue the train would have taken the entire day. With that many days you should esily have time to add Bratislava. If you want to add Paris you would need to keep P, B and V to 3 days each. We found hotel and food prices in Prague and Budapest to be distinctly less than Paris. Prices in Vienna were closer to Paris - perhaps a touch less.

Hope this helps!

Rail from Vienna to/from Budapest is about 3 hours, unless you want to find a slower trip with changes.

In Budapest, there are several good hotels and many favorable opinions. Your choice really depends on your preference for location and style, in addition to price, of course. The Marriott and the Hilton in the castle district have long been 5-star properties, not 4, and I'd be surprised if that changed. There are two Hiltons, so be careful which one you select, if either. The surroundings of the castle area are attractive, but it is a bit less convenient than several other choices -- again, personal taste counts.

Cameron, I am interested to see you mention Bratislava. I've never read anything positive about it as a tourist venue. Please say more about what you enjoyed there. Thanks.

Great to join you guys!!I need help.I want to visit Prague,Viena and Budapest
but are undecided on a tour versus a
river cruise. In addition when I compare prices between Vantage Travel
(16 days $3,599 & 38 meals) and Grand Circle Travel (12 days $2,600 and 30 meals),both river cruises, I find the price difference too big. What am I missing? Any experience with these travel companies? On a tour by Motorcoach, Grand Circle is also way under Grand European Tours. Is Grand Circle more reasonable or do they just offer a "cheaper" quality product. Most
appreciative for any feed back.
