We stayed at the Maximilian last May and were very comfortable there. In fact, it is one of our favorite European hotels. The location is very good, staff very pleasant and helpful, breakfast above average, and our room was quite large and nicely furnished.

There was underground construction going on while we were there (flood damage) and it was noisy. Was not a problem for us but thought I should mention it. However, since our stay was four months ago perhaps all the work has been completed.

There are two restaurants close by: The Red Wheel and Chez Marcel. We ate at both and enjoyed our meals. Chez Marcel is open later than most Prague restaurants, so was great on days we preferred to eat later.

Thought I should top this for you DPBrown, since you had posted a couple of times re the U Prince with no responses, and felt you might have given up on this post as well. Hopefully you will find it now.

We didn't stay at the U Prince, but we ate there 2 times. It was wonderful and if you just go by the decor in the bar, resturant and reception, it is a very beautiful hotel.
