Prague to Passau with a stopover at Cesky Krumlov

We (3 couples) will be in Prague for several days prior to departing Passau on our river cruise. We are thinking that we will hire a car/driver for the transfer, but wonder if we could also stop at Cesky Krumlov. I understand that this will be a very long day, and right now I am not sure what time exactly we need to be on the ship. Doable or certifiable?

It's a moot point if the boat leaves at 1:00PM

Usually most cruises I have seen have boarding sometime before 5pm, leaving port at 6pm. The drive from Prague to Passau is a bit over three hours. If this is the case, with your own private driver and you leave Prague by 9am, you could easily spend three hours in Cesky Krumlov. It's well worth the stop. But I'm sure you know, Passau is aLSO well worth visiting. Perhaps you are staying overnight on the boat in Passau and that works. Richard

Thank you. I was not totally clear about the boat; we are there overnight, and have a tour of Passau in the morning before we take off. It looks like we could do this then. Something to think about.

We are also going to Prague for three days prior to going to Passau for our Viking River Cruise departing on 3/19/11. Are you by any chance on this same cruise. We have hired a car to take us from Prague on 3/18/11 to Passau with a 3-4 hr stop in Cesky Krumlov on the way. We are using a Prague transfer company and their webb address is prague-airport-shuttle.com They have been very helpful and the cost for 4 people including the stop in Cesky Krumlov was very reasonable as well. T think they will charge a little more for 6 people, however, I believe it is well worth it. We are doing this one day before the ship departs, however, if you wanted to do it on the same day as long as you left Prague by 9:00am you could spend three hours in Cesky Krumlov and still be at the ship by 4:00pm.

We are on the Uniworld River Beatrice departing Passau on June 11; I have just booked a similar transfer to yours with another recommended operator, chauffeur-mike. We are going to also stop in Cesky Krumlov for several hours on the way to Passau. Have a great trip.
