Prague to Halle to Munich--Help!
Hi! My husband, teenage son and I are flying into Prague and because of a last-minute change of plans, we have 24 hours to get to Halle, Germany to meet up with our daughter who is singing in a choir. Our first question is...what is the cheapest, fastest way to get from Prague to Halle? Once we meet up with our daughter, we will have five nights to work our down to Munich. We would like to take a daytrip to Salzburg. Can anyone suggest "must see" towns? Should we get a eurail pass, buy point-to-point tickets

By train from Prague to Halle is roughly 4.5 hours, but unfortunately you have to change trains twice: in Dresden and Leipzig.
It's been so long since I've been in Germany (and I've never been in East Germany, only East Berlin) that I would hesitate to suggest towns between Halle and Munich.
Salzburg is an easy day trip from Munich.
To check whether you are better off with a pass or with point-to-point tickets, go to

Enter your itinerary (once you know it) and click on "Only if it saves me money" or something of the sort.

Thank you for the tips (and for pointing out the double posting--a slip of the fingers and off went the message). I'm wondering if we're better off renting a car once in Germany--is it easy to rent a car in a town like Halle and return to Munich?

Sorry, but I don't drive. I hope someone else can help you with the rental car question.
(Double postings happen, nothing to worry about. But I thought that since you are new to the forum you might not know the "click on your own name" trick.)

If you click on your own underlined name wherever it appears -- at the beginning of a post, on the main Talk page next to "Hello" in the upper left, or next to "Welcome" in the upper left part of the Europe page -- all your messages will appear in the left-hand column.
But I'm afraid you're stuck with the double message; there is no way to erase it.
