Prague - mini report and photos
Had a lovely break in Prague between Christmas and New Year, though it was a very busy time to visit. We stayed in the hotel Domus Henrici, on the road between the castle and the Loreto. The hotel was lovely, warm, comfortable and tastefully decorated. It was in a quiet location, convenient for the castle, Loreto and Strahov but a bit of a way from the Old Town. The sister hotel - Domus Balthasar - is right by Charles Bridge and looks like it has similar high standards, for anyone who would prefer to be more central.
For anyone looking for a special restaurant, try "David", near the American embasssy in Mala Strana. It's a bit more pricey than the average but the food and service were exceptional - we paid about £60 for the 2 of us (2 courses plus drinks and tip):

If a p*ss up in a brewery is more your style, try the brewery at the Strahov monastery, there are 3 places to eat, a small pub, a restaurant and a large beer hall. We has a good and filling 2 course meal in the beer hall, including several of the dark St. Norbert beers brewed there, for £25 for both of us.

Nice job with those pictures!!! I've always wanted to see Prague in the snow, and now I did!
I really have to try "David" next time I'm in the city. I hang out in that area all the time, but never ate there.
Anyway, thanks for your tips. The Loreto area is very lovely, and I have special memories of one of my Czech friends driving me up there on a rainy summer night. The whole place just glistened... ahhhh
