Prague in one and a half days.
Is a day and a half enough to see the sights in Prague? We are thinking of travelling to Prague by train in the morning and on the first day and will depart by train the evening of the second day for Berlin.

It's enough time to see some of the sights but not all of them. You'd really need 4 or 5 days to do justice to Prague.
I see you're also not devoting much time to Berlin. Some people are happy to see just a bit of places and not explore them in depth. Perhaps you're one of those people and would be happy with 1.5 days in Prague and 2.5 days in Berlin. You have to make the decision.

no, I haven't made that choose, my SO and I had a misunderstanding about an upcoming trip, I had orginally booked a ticket to visit Berlin and Prague only. Once it was deceided he'd join me on the trip, he booked a ticket from Berlin - KRakow, rtn. In short, we have 9 days to visit Prague, Berlin and Krakow. I had started another thread explaining what happened and how the tickets got booked. But, now I really need to work out the Berlin/Prague part of the itinerary.

You will be o.k., not everyone has time to see places
"in depth". Prague is walkable and very pretty.
Pick a few of places you wish to see inside.( a church or a synagogue , the Municipal House or Clementium )
I took a tram to the Castle and spend just a couple of hours there ( one can also walk up hill). Not big on castles. I enjoyed the most looking at many lovely buildings in various styles all over town.

a day and a half will let you see agood bit of Prague ,it is a fairly compact city tourist wise and easy to get around ,also has a lot of pedestrianised areas. The website i have posted will give you lots of info but have a look as this page on the website.

gives you some suggested itinaries,als0 this page

gives you the Royal Route which takes about and hour or so to walk (without stops) and lets you see the main historic places of the city, but you could spend a whole day walking this if you wished.

A day and a half is definitely enough to get a great flavour of the city and it is very walkable. I would recommend a walkup to Vysehrad to get a view of the river and the castle at night, then a walk along the river to Charles Bridge. It is a lovely walk and you'll see a lot. During the day a walk from old town square, across the Charles Bridge and up to the castle - drop into the tea shop half way up Neruda Street. You won't have to rush and you will see the best bits of Prague.

Bookmarking as well. We will be in Prague soon for a few days and then on to Vienna.
2g, I think you have some great advice here which I plan to use. From experience visiting other places, you won't be able to see it all so enjoy what you can in the time you have. Perhaps decide what you want to see and do, given the limited time there, and try not to squeeze too much in as it will be all a blur.
Enjoy your visit! I am looking forward to mine.
