possible to see Pompeii and Montecassino in one day?

I am definitely going to visit Pompeii on this trip! But if I have a little more time I will plan to see something else that day also. Is Montecassino easy to get to, using public transport? I don't plan to rent a car, I'd like to see both using the train or bus. (which is better?)

If there are other things which may be easier to visit, please let me know. Pompeii is a must however.

Are you interested in the ruins at Paestum? Montecassino is easier to reach from Rome than Naples.

Pompeii is big and there is a lot to see. If only in th area for one day, Pompeii and Herculaneum, although wonderful, might be overkill.

I would highly recommend finding time to see the archaeological museum in Naples. Many of the artifacts recovered from the ruins are there.

Paestum is another excellent place to visit - and with another very good museum.
