Positano/Sorento Accomodation

My wife and I will be visting the Amalfi coast at the end of May 2009 celebrating our 30th anniversary. Any recommendations for B&B's or reasonably priced hotels?

Try Villa Rosa in Positano for a reasonable hotel. We used www.summerinitaly.com and rented an apartment when we were there and loved it. They were very easy to work with.

Enjoy and happy anniversary!

The Villa Rosa is absolutely wonderful. We loved our stay there, and we're dying to go back.
You can read about it in my trip report. (Positano is first).
Click on my name, and then on my most recent trip report.

congratulations on your 30th wedding anniversary!
We celebrated our 20th there!

In Sorrento, I recommend the Hotel Antiche Mura. We stayed there just this past January, and it is very nice and well located.

Another vote for the Villa Rosa; your private terrace will provide views of both the mountains and the sea--absolutely magnificent. www.villarosapositano.it

Villa Rosa is the best..they also have a sister property closer to the water Villa Tartana, where I've stayed when VR wasn't available.

Hi L,

I can highly recommend www.lesirene.com in Praiano, about 6 km east of Positano.
They are connected by the SITA and Orange buses.

We really liked the Posa Posa in Positano

Our room was lovely with a large terrace and, of course, that view!

We will be in a car - any "not to be missed" recommendations for day trips in the area apart from Pompei and Capri?

Don't miss Ravello, Oplontis and Herculaneum. We also really wanted to go to Ceasarta, but ran out of days.

Paestum makes an excellent half-day trip if you are interested in Greek ruins and have not seen Agrigento. You can combine with a visit to a mozzarella maker, or a visit to Salerno, Vietri (for ceramics) or Cetara. Cetara has some of the best restaurants on the Amalfi coast.
