Positano OR Sorrento

My fiance and I will be visiting Italy for our honeymoon in October (Rome to Venice, to Florence, then to Almalfi Coast). We can't decide whehter to stay in Positano or Sorrento. We will only be there for 3nights. Everyone says Positano is for honeymooners, but if we want to site see (trip to Capri, Pompeii, etc) are we better staying in Sorrento? Please Help!

I think you answered your own question. What everyone says is true - Positano is definitely more romantic than Sorrento. Sorrento has the easier access to Pompei but you can still visit Pompei from Positano without too much trouble. It will just take 1.25 hours to get there rather than .5 hours.

Personally, I think there is plenty of romance to be found in Sorrento. Stay up on the hill and you'll have wonderful views. Check out the webcam at www.aminta.com

You can day trip Capri and Pompeii from both locations, but 3 nights is a very short time to also experience the romance of Positano or Sorrento. If you can make more time, then Positano. If not, Sorrento will save you some travel time.

Enjoy.

Stay in Sorrento & take a day trip to the areas around you. Enjoy the best Margarita pizza you'll ever taste.I'm so envious. I can't wait to return to the area. It's heaven.

Hi Riz,

>Rome to Venice, to Florence, then to Almalfi Coast. <

May I suggest that Rome to Florence to Venice and then a flight to Naples would be more convenient?
