I would greatly value any feedback from anyone that has visited both these places as i'm torn between which one to choose for my weeks break at the end of May....help!!!!!

Praiano is cheaper, but fairly isolated with minimal nightlife. If that doesn't bother you, stay there. Otherwise try to find reasonable accommodations in Positano.

I have been to both. Both have their pros & cons (mostly pros).

Hello! Thanks very much for replies, I have since been researching and opted for Praiano! I will let you know how I get on!!

bardo1, my priorities were balanced between the 2 places, but in the end, the more local/less touristy option won! I will take the bus to some surrounding places on days that I feel I need to be somewhere a little more lively!

What were your pros cons for Praiano by the way? Any tips for a first timer! ;-)

Praiano has no real center, and rather poor transport options. Access to the beaches require a lot of steps. Bus schedules will be limited in May. Food choices also very limited.

I love Praiano, but I was there with15 relatives. We stayed at the tromanto d'doro and ate breakfast and dinner there. The food was great and the view fabulous. There is a large roof top pool. It is easy to get around via bus, but it is sleepy at night. I was pleased with our decision. The walk to the beach was very fine.. Just walk slowly going up and have a drink at the top. There are restaurants there.

I don't mind steps as I'm quite fit and like to keep active!

I try to eat very wealthily too, and wondered if anyone can recommend any restaurants in that area?
