Positano in Nov.

We plan to visit Positano Nov.9-13. I don't know if there's really an "off season " at this time of the year. My question.. Is there going to be enough to do, and are shops still going to be open? I don't care about the beaches. Has anyone experienced Positano at this time of the year? Thanks

There is indeed an off season, and you will be in it. The weather is likely to be cold and wet. Positano has its charms, they are, in order: the view, the view, and the view. There are, of course, the chic (and less chic) hotels, which will be sad and mostly empty, and the shuttered shops, which have the same merchandise as those that are open.

Five days is a stretch in high season. In November I think you'd be fuming after a day or two. Take a day trip from Naples.

I totally agree with the previous poster. A day or day in Positano is about right for November. We were there a week later and things were fairly quiet.....but still beautiful. The choppy seas meant that the boats were not runnng to Capri when we were there.

I was in Positano last year over our Thanksgiving and enjoyed it. Some places were closed but it wasn't sad because alot of places were still open.

You ask if there is enough to do, what kinds of things do you like to do? There are mostly shops and restaurants in Positano. I walked along the beach and collected sea glass, walked the pathways in the hills, sat looking at the views while sipping coffee or wine. It is lowkey at that time of year, which may or may not be your cup of tea.

People live on the Amalfi Coast year around so places have to be open for them.
