Portugal itinerary help
Hi - I am taking a one-week trip to Portugal this August with my fiance and we'd like some help picking which places to go. We are looking for a mix of relaxation (beach) and sight-seeing so we were thinking of the Algarve area for the most part (maybe a day in Lisbon when we first arrive or right before we leave since I think it's easiest to fly into Lisbon). Anywhere in particular we should stay/see while there?
Thanks so much.

If you choose Portugal from the pull down menu at the top of the page,(right hand side) you will find LOTS of information on trips there.
Also, if you click on my name, I have posted on just about every Portuguese post in the last year.
Hope this helps for the start of your vacation planning.

We have come up with a rough itinerary for our August Portugal trip and just wanted to run it by you - thanks for all your help!
Day 1: Arrive in Lisbon from NY and take a bus to Lagos
Days 2-4: Lagos with day trip to Salema
Day 5: Bus to Nazare
Day 6: Nazare (leave at night for Lisbon)
Days 7-8: Lisbon with day trip to Sintra
Day 9: home

sounds awful. skip Nazare. I'd do:
Day 1: Arrive in Lisbon from NY and take a bus to Lagos
Days 2-4: Lagos with day trip to Salema
Day 5: Bus Lisbon
Days 6-8: Lisbon with day trip to Sintra
Day 9: home
Consider Lagos to Lisbon to be done by train. You must catch 2 trains, one of them regional (slow), but it's more scenic and can be fun if you are in the right mood.

Loule is a great inland town.. with a market and everything. VERY portugese and the restaurants are cheap and serve wonderful food.
