Port-en-Bessin

Hello, I am in the very early stages of planning a trip to Port-en-Bessin for next September. I have reserved a VRBO house for a week and am now trying to figure out transportation options. My question: is if it is possible to be there without a car? Can we get to the town by bus or train from Paris? What is public transportation like in the area?

Once there, I am thinking that it would be a lovely place to just hang out and watch the fishermen, explore the village, eat, etc. We would also want to visit the D day beaches. Would it be possible to do a private tour from Port-en-Bessin?

I know there are people on this forum who have stayed in Port-en-Bessin and would appreciate your recommendations, and also recommendations/advice for D Day tours.

Thank you.

We stayed in Port-en-Bessin with a rental car. I don't know what the public transportation is like there, but I'm sure it's limited. While we really liked staying in Port-en-Bessin, if I was trying to experience the D-Day beaches without a rental car, I would probably stay in Bayeux and rely upon the organized small group tours (I don't think normal bus service to the invasion beaches is a thing, either).

Rome2Rio is helpful for finding your way from a to b. It shows a train to Bayeux and then to Port-en Bessin as one option. You can put in the exact address to help.
It is a long train journey.
