Pls. help with choosing a hotel in Lisbon

I have been looking at the Bancotel offerings for june and they have quite a 4* selection for 1 voucher per night.

Ideally I would like to be centrally located between Pombal and Commerce Plaza and at a hotel where you have had a good experience from the list below:

Tejo
Holiday Inn Lisboa
Holiday Marriott
Holiday Inn Continental
Real Parque
Clarion Suites Lisboa
Metropolitan Lisboa
Vila Gale Opera
Radisson SAS
Turim lisboa
Florida
Altis

Your help and recommendations will most appreciated.

Elvira

We visited Lisbon last Oct (lived there for 2 yrs. in the mid 70's and first time back to THAT area).
A VERY good location is on Avenida de Liberdad....half way between Pombal and Commerce Sq....
There is a beautiful Tivoli hotel, however right behind it is a Tivoli Jardim...very nice and less money(I think 4 star vs. 5 star??)(or 3 vs. 4)
Parking garage, comfortable rooms etc.
The Florida is a Best WEstern I believe and closer to Pombal ..we really like most BW in Europe, but this one didn't get very good reviews.
Lisbon is BEAUTIFUL and so lovely.! I checked out some of these you mention (before our trip) and found the Tivoli the best location. I belive the RAdisson SAS is close by and that would be wonderful also.

The best located are the hotels Altis and Florida. The Marriot, Metropolitan and Radisson SAS are far from the center and difficult to access by public transportation. The Holiday Inn Continental and Real Palacio are also not in the center but they are close to subway stations.

From what I recall, the Radisson was just across the street from one of the football stadiums and had a metro stop right in front of it.
While I agree that it isn't exactly central, I would hardly describe it as being hard to access by public transportation.

I haven't stayed there, but had drinks on their gorgeous rooftop terrace right in the center of town, and I certainly don't know if your voucher would work there, but if it would, you might want to take a look at the four star property called Lisboa Regency Chiado! I thought it might be a smallish, boutique sort of hotel that might be worth trying my next time around.

hsv comment is totally right! The Radisson SAS is indeed close to the Campo Grande subway station and the Alvalade football stadium. My apologies for the innacurate info.

oops! it was not the Radisson that was close to the Tivoli and off Liberdad, as I thought in my previous posting.
Radisson is not in the location YOU asked for at all, and certainly not central.. But I'm sure a lovely hotel.
Commerce Sq. (Plaza) is at the waterfront, and Pombal is at the top of the hill...Ave. de Liberdad connecting the two. Most on your list are NOT between the two., but above Pombal to the north. SAS is closer to the airport. Of course, as someone mentioned...if there is good transportation then it doesn't really matter...unless you want to walk. As I mentioned before the Tivoli, the Tivoli Jardim, and a few others Are halfway down the hill between the two places you mentioned. You could probably find out which location you like by Googling'"hotels in downtown Lisbon"....(and often the sites will be accompanied by a good Map of the various locations.)
You have a good list of wonderful hotels, so you should be able to find one close to Pombal...(but not close to Commerce square).

These answers were music to my ears. I'm headed off for Lisbon next Saturday and the Hotel Tivoli is were we have reservations.

I can't wait to get there to experience the city - and submit a trip report. Seems as if Fodor's is a bit lacking in Portugal trip reports.
