Thanks Lin, we don't mind using the metro, but if we have the car we might consider keeping it.

Formentera.. definitely. Fly back to Valencia or take the high speed ferry to Denia.

You will want a car in Ibiza for exploring.

Re parking in Valencia. With a car you do not want to be paying 25-28E/night parking at the garages.. so it would be important to find a hotel with good street parking, which will be outside the historic, downtown area, closer to the Science Center OR the Palacio de Congresos area.

Lots of good advice, so here's mine for what it's worth. I'd skip Alicante - big, touristy, high-rises. As an alternative in the same general area, there is a quaint fishing village between Granada and Valencia on the Costa Blanca called Altea. Great town square, some interesting day trips, beautiful beaches and many vacation apartments for rent. Sevilla, Granada, Valencia and Barcelona are well worth longer stays - 2 days at least, maybe 3-4 in Barcelona if you have the time. We drove from Sevilla-Granada-Valencia which is about the only way because train service didn't seem available at the time. Then the train from Valencia to Barcelona which was quite pleasant and the Barcelona subway system is excellent. With that much time, you can't go too wrong with your choice. Enjoy!

Formentera is beginning to look like a good plan. We don't mind a little partying atmosphere, crazy young kids, lively music, beach activities, in fact we enjoy it....you might even find us in the midst of it .

Is this an area where we could rent a boat for the day or some Seadoos? Also, while I like a nice hotel and the prices seem very reasonable everywhere, location is really important to us not only for the convenience but for the atmosphere. Do you have any recommendations on where to stay on Formentera?

My daughter frequents the island but likes to stay on Ibiza near the ferry dock that goes to Formentera.. then just spends the day at some nice place that has a restaurant and is very quiet and relaxing. I will ask her. I think the nightlife and street life on Ibiza is more fun.

I am sure if you google motos acuaticas o motos de agua Ibiza, there must be.. I know for sure you can rent a small power boat because we did once.
