Please help with Italy itinerary
I haven't been to Italy in 30 years, and J hasn't ever been there. Are we trying to do too much seeing Florence and Venice in one week? Any other suggestions are welcome. We'll be traveling in September leaving on a Saturday, coming back 2 Saturdays later.
Fly from US on Saturday, and arrive Venice Sunday. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday in Venice.
Wednesdsay, take train to Florence.
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday in Florence.
Sunday, taxi to airport, pick up parents and rent car.
Sunday night- Siena. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday in Siena with day trips.
Wednesday to Perugia. Wednesday, Thursday in Perugia with day trips.
Friday, drop off car in Florence, spend night in Florence, and fly out Saturday morning.
These are just the bones of the trip, I'm sure I'll be back with additional questions.
I welcome your thoughts.

You can check out my trip report (I am in the process of writing it) by clicking on my name. We spent 3 nights in each place and did not feel rushed. Of course, there is always more you can see, but I think you should be able to see much of Florence and Venice in one week.

I think you have a good plan - I don't think your three days each in Venice and Florence is 'too much'.
I'd only suggest that you drop Perugia and concentrate on Tuscany, staying 5 nights near Siena instead of 3. (With the car, I think you should base just outside of Siena so as to make the daytrips easier.)

Hi A,
Very good plan.
>Are we trying to do too much seeing Florence and Venice in one week?<
Not at all.
I would add one more day to Venice. You will be overcoming jet lag on Sunday.
Since you won't be taking daytrips from Florence, 2.5 days will be sufficient.
Enjoy your visit.
