Please help with italian translation on ferry booking website

after waiting months to find a naples-olbia ferry route, i finally found one that leaves on the day I need (hooray!), BUT now I have spent an hour trying to figure out what everything means in Italian on the website.

It's Dimaio lines, and even though I can get google to "translate" the web page, when it comes down to all the descriptions of the cabins and booking details, it is all in Italian and difficult to translate as they actually use abbreviations, etc.

Any tips? I'm trying to avoid paying a travel agent fee and hope to book it myself.

thanks!

Post the link here and someone will have a go! If it is not too technical, I'll do it myself for you.

Di Maio Lines' website is www.dimaiolines.it.
They have fares for suites, standard cabins (with shower and WC) and economy cabins (with a wash basin). The cabins are "doppia" (double), "tripla" or "quadrupla", and either "esterna" (outside, with a window or porthole) or "interna" (inside, with no natural light). There are also fares for "poltrone" (reclining seats) or "ponte" (deck).
There are three fares, for "bassa stagione" (low season), "media stagione" (mid season) and "alta stagione" (high season).
Port taxes ("tasse portuale&quot of 8 euros per person must be added to all fares.
Unless you're travelling in July or August, I'd wait to book it in Italy.

Are you referring to the cabin and price information in the linked pdf file? If so, when are you planning on traveling and how many people will there be in your party?

i wish i could you give you all a hug!!

You are so helpful. I will give it another go with your info, and then post specific questions.

We are a family of 4, and i wanted a toilet in our overnight cabin.

Geoff, I am so worried about waiting to get to Italy to buy the tickets, because dimaio has the only ferry travelling from Naples to northern sardinia, and it only does so one night per week. i have all my hotels and itinerary set, so if i don't get on that ferry, i'm faced travelling all the way to civitavecchia from naples to catch a ferry from there -- extra expense and time. doesn't it make sense to get the tickets now?

Thank you!! I"ll be back...
dina

"C. Lusso 4 letti est. servizi"

could this mean a standard exterior cabin for 4 with toilet and washbasin?

there's also a "tariffa" drop-down menu choice for
OR
RE
GI
What could those possibly mean?

thanks!

The OR and GI choices come up with a fare that is 6.5 euros more than the RE choice.

any ideas?

I think I've worked it out after playing with their booking system.
There are discounts for young people ("Giovanni&quot and residents of Sardinia, which must be "GI" and "RE". "OR" must be the ordinary tariff.
There is also a discount of 20% for booking in March, but discounts cannot be combined.
I got a quote for a deck passage (something I would never actually want to book for an overnight trip) and the standard fare is 25 euros less 20%, which is 20 euros. The child fare is 25 euros less 50%, which is 12.50 euros.

"C. Lusso 4 letti est. servizi" would be a luxury outside cabin with four berths and services (a bathroom with wash basin, shower and toilet).

geoff, you are amazing! thanks.

but how did you get the 20% off for booking in march?

i guess i should do the OR - ordinary - tarriff
our kids are 15 and 18, so no bambino discount for sure

The early-booking discount is automatically deducted. The standard early-season fares are 88 euros in a suite, 55 euros in a 4-berth outide and 45 euros in a 4-berth inside (with shower and WC). The quote for booking in March should be 20% less.
There is a 20% discount for ages 12-26, but this is irrelevant as it cannot be combined with another discount.
I agree that your booking should be at the "OR" tariff.
