Please help me decide -- Which of these Madrid apartments would you choose?
Looking for an apartment for three people (two sisters, 21 and 24, and dad, 54) for 5 nights in Madrid from August 18 – 23. I've heard that the areas around Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, and Plaza Santa Ana are good places to stay for an exciting and lively time (leaning more towards Sol/Santa Ana area over Sol/Plaza Mayor area).
Our criteria:
- close to metro (esp. for those early morning treks to the train station for day trips to Toledo and Segovia)
- relatively close to major sights/attractions
- in a lively and vibrant neighbourhood…i.e. we don't want a place that is totally dead and deserted at night, but somewhere with life and people, where we can just walk around in the evening and people watch – but not necessarily close to clubs blasting dance music (gonna be there with dad, so, no clubbing on the agenda lol).
As far as street noise goes, that's not a huge deal for us as long as it doesn't feel as if there is a raging party going on the next floor down or anything
- price range: 100 – 120 Euros
These are the apartments I'm considering. Right now, I think my top choice is the Santa Ana I because it seems like it offers the most comfort for the price, as well as a good location.
I'm interested to know if anyone has any other impressions or opinions on any of these places – where would you stay?
Also, if anyone has booked through any of these companies I'd love to know what your experience was like! (some of the websites look a bit more shady than others…)

We just got back. We stayed a block away from your Santa Ana I at Carretas8 (apt 101) with SpainSelect. Very nice, quiet bedrooms in the back, living room with small balcony in the front. I think you've a great location, not far from Sol, Plaza Santa Ana and Plaza Mayor. Enjoy!
