Please help me choose a Venice hotel

We'll be in Venice July 18-20, during Redentore festival. I am trying to choose between Ca' Dei Dogi and La Villegiatura. Both look lovely and are similarly priced, so location will likely be the key - although I'm also leaning towards Ca' Dei Dogi because of its very high TripAdvisor rating. I would like to be well located for the Redentore fireworks and festivities, while still able to enjoy some peace and quiet.

Ca Dei Dogi, is near the Doge's palace although sounds like it is still very quiet. Location details here:
http://www.cadeidogi.it/en/location.htm

La Villegiatura is in San Polo, details here:
http://www.lavilleggiatura.it/en_dovesiamo.htm

Your help is greatly appreciated!

I don't know anything about viewing the fireworks but based on the hotel itself and location my personal choice would be for La Villegiatura. I prefer the San Polo neighborhood. I have actually tried to book into La Villegiatura twice in the past and they were full both times so if that is your choice don't wait long to confirm it.

The Villegiatura is a five-star? The rooms look much nicer, I think. For the same price, I'd choose that one.

Thanks folks, topping to see if anyone else wants to weigh in - specifically about location during Redentore.

>>specifically about location during Redentore<<

What do you mean? Visibility of the Redentore fireworks? Proximity to the pontoon bridge?

There's a map here that shows both:
http://www.venicebanana.com/ev007.htm#mappa

Be aware that any public area from which the fireworks are visible is going to be swamped with people and that any private establishment with a good view is going to be charging premium prices and will have to be reserved well in advance.

Ca dei Dogi *looks* as if it has a roof terrace from which the fireworks should be visible, but oddly, there is no mention of a roof terrace on the Web site...

Zerlina makes a very good point regarding your lodging proximity in relation to fireworks, etc.

How close to the revelers do you want to be? Does Venice get packed with people, like during Carnavale (sp?)?

I emailed the owner of Ca' Dei Dogi and he told me that the fireworks are viewable from the roof terrace, and that my room has a private terrace with a similar view. It's also a bit less expensive. I think I will go with Dei Dogi - thanks for your help!
