Please Help, how do I trace a lost package from France?

I am hoping someone can help me trace a lost package I sent from Aix last April 28, 2010.
I sent a total of 5 packages using the pre-paid Colissimo boxes but I only received 4 boxes.
I tried going on the website but there is nothing I could find regarding lost packages/mail. My friend's mother went to the post office to inquire about the box but they wouldn't give her any information.

If you could help me, thank you very much in advance.

Cafegoddess, that's terrible. I live here and my wife is French and is obviously fluent in the language, so if you think having language assistance might help let me know what I can do. Do you have tracking numbers and such? Have you tried calling this company or just done a website search? I was just on their website and found a page that gives you info to track a parcel. Have you found that page? Here's the link if you haven't.

http://www.colissimo.fr/portail_coli...language=en_EN

Let me know how I can help.

FrenchMystiqueTours, thank you very much. I tried the link but when I put the tracking number (CK 1487 3446 2FR), it came back with a message "parcel over 30 days" no other option.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate you taking the time to read my post and offering to help me.

Have you emailed them and asked for info? Or called (I have fond that in France the latter often works better).

The parcel may be held up by US Customs. I've had parcels from the Netherlands held for weeks, and some never arrived. If it has food or plant life you will probably never see it. US Customs in Chicago handles parcels from NL to Michigan. They could never give me any information. The local post office is totally clueless.

LOL, cafegoddess, what is it with packages and luggage, they can get longer trips then we do! Glad to hear your package arrived, to bad it can't give you a trip report.

I know what you mean LoveItaly, my husband and I were amazed that the clay pictures of Cinque Terre were not broken considering how far the package traveled.

Not broken..congratulations, cafegoddess! We over the decades had three different packages sent from Italy to us in CA and each and every time there was something broken. And the various stores had wrapped the packages for shipping. What a dissapointment to put it midly.

Your clay pictures of Cinque Terre sound lovely and I can only imagine how much you will enjoy having them in your home.

cafegoddess, I had forgotten about this thread. So glad the story had a happy ending. Did your package include pictures of all the places it visited along the way?

So glad it finally turned up! We have shipped those same boxes back from France without any problem, and they arrived to OR in 7 days, so pretty good. But as with anything, there are exceptions. I bet you were thrilled to see this as you probably had given up on it.

We bought a lot of pottery in Italy and the shop shipped it for us. Took a couple months, but all arrived intact. Friends traveled later and bought more stuff at that same shop and shipped it to us, and arrived in about a week. Guess you just never know.

DD will be on exchange in Paris next summer and has already mentioned that she is glad to know how to ship these boxes

FrenchMystiqueTours, I wish it did, I am jealouse my package had been to South America.

mms, I love these pre-paid boxes from France, it is so easy to use. I have been using this system for a long time and never had any problem until now. I love the happy ending, I actually gave up last Monday and throw away my receipt from the post office.

KayDoll,

I think it was around 45 euro for the x-large box. I don't know about the weight limit.

cafegoddess--Wow, just after giving up, it turned up!

KayDoll--I have read from some posters that there is technically a weight limit for the boxes, but in all the times I have done this the people at the post office tell me there is no weight limit and to put as much stuff in as I can. So I don't know the correct answer, but so far all the help from the post office people have been consistent.

I have never lost a parcel to or from anywhere. Just about all parcels go by air freight even when you supposedly paid the surface (ship) rate. But some items do end up on a ship and can take up to three months.
