This is the best thread ever-I'm laughing out loud at every post.
Patrick-right there with you. In Vegas a few years ago DH and I walked head on toward a video billboard showcasing Mr. Jones in all his glory. The clip was of him in mid concert singing "I'm your SEX BOMB SEX BOMB" (gyrations included). It was horrifying and hysterical all at once.

Because we are moving to Atlanta in the next month, I am spending time each day packing and preparing for my move. When I am desperate for a break, I come in here to Fodors and you guys just make my day! Thanks for all the laughs everyone.

Just wanted to give a shout out to THE HOFF---today, July 17th is His birthday. I will be in Germany in exactly 13 days and will be looking for some great Hoff souvenirs. I know the German's love the Hoff.......

"the hoff", as he is lovingly known as in some circles ,is popular because he has some kind of tacky freak value that some love and are obsessed with. you only have to check out popbitch.com to check out all their stories on him. they've also got a link to a video of him at some google party in germany where he seems to be kinda inebriated. my favorite hoff anecdote is where some weird guy started to shout at him in a bar saying he was "nothing without his robot car! nothing!"

Good looking. Hot. Classy.
Oh, yeah.
Here's why we love The Hoff: http://tinyurl.com/kb75q
Sure, it's no "Hooked on a Feeling." But what is?

His popularity apparently continues and it defies any rationale explanation! There is absolutely no valid reason for it.
In recent NBA basketball finals - drew nawitzcne (sp?), a German said he was a tremendous Hasselhof fan - and he's fairly young yet. hasselhof even came to some games - in between trips to rehab i guess.
Anyway Hasselhof's fame in Germany as a croner is absolutely mind boggling! Maybe Chip Rommel (baywatch) could tell us!

wanderlust5, don't you wonder how The Hoff can make a comeback..? I mean, what exactly is he "coming back" from? Brief *stardom* directly attributed to a race car and TV show (not even a "HIT" TV show, mind you) in the 80s? Or coming back from Baywatch..? Was that a hit? I would say he needs more than a comeback...he needs to start over or just move abroad forever. And he needs to stop singing completely.
Even so, I am still looking for a life size poster of the Hoff when I am in Germany. I just can't get enough. I need more Hoff in my life.

Thanks for the good laugh!
He is kidding, isn't he?
