Hello Sinan and Murat,

<<Dolmus drivers or other drivers don't care about any scooter or Bicycle>>

LOL! Guess we better skip the scooter!!

How long would the total bus ride be from Cappadocia - Konya - Fethiye? I had earlier thought I would rent a car in Cappadocia and drive to Kalkan, but I'm just not sure I went to drive long distances! Is it possible to rent a car in Fethiye (for exploring) and return it there when I catch my flight to Istanbul?

BTW, Murat, I looked at Villa Mahal's website....the place looks great. We are now on the waiting list for a room....fingers crossed!

TerriT,

From NEVSEHIR to KONYA takes 3 hours 200 KM.
From KONYA to ANTALYA takes 4 or 5 hours 425 KM (It depends on how you drive)

You can find many rent a car companies in Every Touristic town like Fethiye, Kas, Kalkan. Don't worry.

I RECOMMEND YOU STAY IN KONYA 1 NIGHT then you can continue your trip to Kalkan VIA ANTALYA PLEASE DON'T MISS ANTALYA. If you go to Fethiye you will not see the Beatiful Antalya as a city and Side,Aspendos, and Perge as a RUIN dated to 3.000 BC. If you are planning to go to Turkey againg you may skip Antalya and enviriments If you are not I recommend you THINK ONE MORE TIME for your this trip.

Hi TerriT,

If you have problems with Villa Mahal, let me know. John would help you but the owner is a good friend of mine too.

Room 203 or pool-room is the most favorite ones if not 201-202, otherwise main building rooms which are completely renovated last winter, room 101 or 105...

Good Luck and all the best...

Hi Sinan,

We have actually decided to skip Konya as we want to get to Mediterranean area as soon as possible. We're taking the route you suggested from Goreme to Antalya and will be staying one night in Manavgat at Villa Lapin before heading to Kalkan and Villa Mahal.

If I were staying in Konya I would definitely look into the Hilton as you're suggesting!

Our plans for the trip are almost complete.....

Thanks for all your help!

ProperTravel & Sinan -- If you're still out there....I've been waitlisted at Villa Mahal for a while now and just found out they don't expect any cancellations for our travel dates to Kalkan.

I'm looking at other properties in the area....would your next choice in Kalkan be Eagle's Nest? If so, do you have recommendations for types of room to ask for when reserving?

Also, what do you all think of Kalkan Han, Balikci Han or Prince Patara? (Prince Patara does look a bit large and resort-y for us... we generally like smaller properties.)

Thanks for any advice!

Hi TerriT,

Shall I interfere with willa mahal reservations ? Yes they are very though on the dates to be fixed since the demand is high and they do not want to loose any day during high season which is reasonable.

Would you like to accomodate yourself on a self catering villa ? You can have dinner outside and breakfast still could be served in some cases.
Kalkan Han is outdated not as charming as it used to be. Balikcihan is very close to harbour nice location but right in the town,if you like, rooms are Ok.

You can write to me if you like to discuss possibilities.

TerriT,

I am in Turkey for 2 months (untill september 24) I recommend you stay in Eagle Nest and get the room from Hotel section BUT if you have kid with you you can get some other rooms BUT some of these rooms are not have AC becarefull. Request the room with AC. The hotel little bit outside of the town you have to walk 10 minutes.
If you want to stay in Kalkan you can stay in Balikcihan. Their service beter then other hotels in town.

Cheers

Thanks Sinan....I am leaning toward Eagle's Nest since it is close to Villa Mahal and I believe we can use the Villa Mahal amenities (boat into town, pool and restaurant.)

Thank you and have a great time in Kusadasi!
