Well, I've never been to St. Remy and have stayed often in Tuscany, so my impression by comparison is that they look a little forlorn. Sorry. I am probably completely wrong but that is how they look to me! (I am also medically blind as a bat.) Anyway, if St. Remy is the way to go, I will try to book. I will look at St. Cirq's towns also.

Hmm, in 3 days you can head directly south to Avignon as noted above; I'd also skip Riviera for this short time. Dijon, Epernay, Cote D'Or and Beaune are lovely for 3 days but you would have to drive and move daily. My vote goes to Avignon.

Provence is best seen by car, and I don't like Avignon as a base for daytrips by car. Tedious suburbs to drive through, coming and going. However, Avignon does make a good base for public transportation. But, with a car, St. Remy is a better base. But there are many other options for basing, depending on what you want to see in your short time in Provence.
You can take the TGV from Paris to Avignon, pick up your car at the train station, and drive to whichever town you pick. The Avignon TGV station is out of town to the south, so makes for an easy start.

We have settled on St. Remy but are finding most hotels booked by now! We need a double room and triple room. I ended up booking at Villa Glanum because they were the only hotel that had the room within our budget (or any budget for that matter). I hope we like it! I am excited and will start studying the region. Merci!
