Planning a trip to Europe and visiting 6 countries

Hey everyone! I am planning a trip to Europe and would like to see 6 countries. I don't have a specific amount of time yet that I'm planning on staying so I guess I'd like to know how long it would take to see the countries on our list? The countries we are interested in seeing are Ireland, United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Greece. The cities we've chosen are kind of scattered all around each country so I'm sure I will have to narrow that down to the closest ones to each other. 12 cites in UK, 6 cities in Portugal, 10 cities in Spain, 6 cities in Italy, 7 cities in Greece, and 6 cities in Ireland. Any help in figuring out the best way to see as many of these countries and cities and as quickly as possible would be great! We are a family of 3 and I think the top 3 countries we would love to see and spend a longer amount of time in are Greece, Italy, and Ireland but we want to visit all. Thank you for your help!

The trip you are planning would - if you really want to see anything of each place - would take most of the 3 months tourist visa you are allowed and would cost tens of thousands of $.

So - if you can give us a realistic amount of time you have for the trip (3 weeks? 4 weeks?) and some idea of a budget - people can help you narrow down to what is realistic within your parameters - so you can make some of the hard choices you will need to make.

FYI the first time we took our daughters - then 11 and 14 - to europe we spend one week in London and 1 week in Paris -with a day trip from each one. they felt this was a good introduction, loved europe and have been back several times, a couple with us and then with friends or boyfriend/fiance.

Younger D, at 19, went with 2 friends a couple of summers ago and went to 8 cities in 6 weeks - it cost her about $8K.

>>would take most of the 3 months tourist visa you are allowed and would cost tens of thousands of $.<<

I think that understates the enormity just a teensy bit

You throw out a wish list of 47 (FORTY SEVEN!) nebulous cities . . . to actually visit 47 different places would require months and months . . . unless you are just dashing about checking places of a list.

Even for just your 3 'must' countries you say you want 19 cities.

Have you done any research? Can you even name 6 cities in Portugal? or 12 in the UK. Of course there are more than 12 cities in the UK -- but there is a heck of a lot of different between London and say York.

>>Any help in figuring out the best way to see as many of these countries and cities and as quickly as possible would be great! <<

There is NO quick way to visit 47 cities . . .

Impossible to make any suggestions w/o you providing your 'list'.

Even w/ just 2 nights/1 day in each place you are talking more than 3 full months and probably $50,000 or more.

You only want to see cities? What about the countryside and it's beautiful villages?

If your top three countries are Greece, Italy and Ireland, I would focus on those three countries first. How much time do you have for this trip? You could easily spend a month in each country and still not have enough time to do everything you might wish to do.

I would pick up guidebooks for each of these countries and decide what places interest you most in each country. You might want to spend some time in small villages or the countryside as well. You have mentioned there are 19 cities you'd like to see in Greece, Italy and Ireland. If you allot three days for each location and a day in between each for travel and another day for arrival and departure you have roughly a three months trip.

Even with a private helicopter or plane, you would be hard-pressed to visit all 47 of these places in your allotted 3 months. You have listed more places than retired citizens or expats living in Europe with a nice income could hope to visit in a year or two of solid traveling.
