Hello all:

I have 10 days, flying in Saturday morning to Santiago de Compostela and out of A Coruna a week Monday in the evening. Travel will be by public transportation.

I would like your feedback on the following plan.

I will be staying in Santiago for six nights/seven days with possible day trips to Ourense, Pontevedra, Vigo and a coastal bus tour around Finisterre.

I am then heading to A Coruna for four nights, with day trips to Lugo and Betanzos.

Any comments? Any substitutions? Any recommendations on restaurants and hotels?

Thanks IMDonehere I will check it out.

cdnyul: carved in stone is public transportation as I do not have a driving licence! I have driven through Galicia about three times in the past covering most of the territory.

It is not easy to make recommendations for someone who has covered most of Galicia without knowing at least some of their interests,
but Ferrol might be an alternative to A Coruna.
Exponav and the Naval Museum if interested in maritime history and shipbuilding, the Canido district and its street art (Meninas de Canido)
All of the above easy walk from the parador.

When we did part of the Camino last year i know some were interested in heading out to Muxia, and i'll be going there next year on another Camino. i'll check with my travel partner on the restaurant we went to in Santiago -- it was top rated on TA and pretty amazing --

FYI the Cathedral has been undergoing renovation and the large incense burner, the one that takes 6 priests to lift with ropes, was not operating; the pilgrims mass was at another church; you could still go in the cathedral. Just an FYI, maybe check on the progress if you plan to visit.

It is called the Botafumeiro and was first used fumigate the Cathedral because the pilgrims from the Camino reeked. It used to be used for certain holidays such as Easter and The Epiphany but when it became popular the Church found other excuses for using it.

While the use of the Bota has been suspended, here is the usual schedule.
