Places to stay in Galway City

I need B & B's right in Galway City so I don't have to drive after a night in the pubs or cheaper hotels. thanks

The Jury's Hotel downtown gets good reviews for location. It's right at the end of the "walking mall" across from the Spanish Arch. They are one of the more inexpensive chains.

I can highly recommend the Ardawn Guest House on College Road. Nice rooms, great breakfast. Not too bad of a walk.

I too can highly recommend Ardawn House! It is on College Road, perhaps an American 10 minute walk to the TI. It is the last house in a row of B&B's on the street.

The TI (tourist info.) in Galway is great for recommendations. We made a poor choice for one of the closest B&B's on College road and the next morning the TI sent us a few houses down to Ardawn.

The room was clean and comfortable. Coffee/tea and Digestives served in the common room filled with comfortable chairs, fireplace, books and newspapers. Breakfast was nice and plentiful. Gracious hosts.

College Road (becomes Forster St at the ITB Office) has B&B's as far as the eye can see: it can be an easy walk to the middle of town (Eyre Sq. Park). You'll pass a Restaurant/Pub/NightClub called An Pucan where they have live music (NOT 'Trad' Irish) nightly.

Hi, NED, I'm guessing you meant the music at An Pucan isn't always trad. But I've been there for the music three times (twice this past March/April) and it's been trad every time I've been there.

I'd definitely suggest sticking with a B&B on College Road that's been specifically recommended to you. While we were very happy with the area, we weren't terribly happy with the B&B we chose. And it looks like 12perfectdays had a similar feeling about their first choice.

Good to see you back, Dawn! Hope your trip was great!

Petra House next door to Ardawn in College Rd also highly recommended. Charming host- frank is very helpful. Great breakfasts cooked by Joan. Immaculately clean rooms.

I've stayed in B&Bs along College Road and it's an ideal location, but the owners know that, so are the most unscrupulous over-charging guest-house owners you'd ever wish to meet. If one can be recommended, then go there, thank them and praise them: they're angels along a road of lesser people.
It is such a convenient location that I'd go back there again, but with low expections of my hosts.
