On two stays, we found the Best Western Eden near Rembrandtplein to be super-convenient and not expensive (although the price can vary dramatically). Read the reviews, but we had no complaints about the hotel or our room, other than getting a room that overlooked a nightclub the first time. If not that hotel, there are other hotels in the area which should be equally convenient.
