Pireaus to Marriott Athens

Hi Folks,

Hoping someone can offer some insight as to the best way to get from Pireaus to our hotel, Athens Marriott. Not sure if we should arrange for a transfer or take a taxi. Please let me know your thoughts & opinions.

Thank you in advance. Your help is truly appreciated.

Does best mean fastest, cheapest, easiest, or most luxurious?

If you are coming off a cruise ship as we just did this past Sunday you'll find there are limited numbers of taxis; if you are coming off an ordinary ferry there may not be such a problem.

We arranged a transfer with George the Taxi driver and he was there, prompt, smooth, and capable.

We used Spiros fromn athenstaxi to pick us up at a cruise ship at 8AM, give us a tour of Athens, and drop us at the hotel at 1PM.

Depends on how much you want to spend, and if you mind walking. The metro (subway) is a pretty easy way to go. The nearest stop to the Athens-Marriott is, I believe, Syngrou-Fix. So you could take the green line metro from Piraeus to Omonia, and switch to the red line, getting off at Syngrou-Fix. The metro is clean, fast, and very convenient, at least for me!

Here's the main metro website, if you want to look into this option further:

Thanks for your replies. By best, I basically meant easiest once coming in from the ferry. Didn't know if there would be ample taxis or if arranging for a transfer would be the best idea. I don't mind the subway, however, am not sure how much luggage we'll have so it may be an option.

Abram, how did you get a hold of athenstaxi? Was the transfer/tour reasonably priced?
