picturesque alpine village

Can anyone recommend the quintessential beautiful little alpine village in Austria? My wife and I are taking my parents on their first European vacation next spring and would like to find a small town where we can experience traditional Austrian fare along with medieval buildings etc.

Although I have never been there, you might want to read this - - http://www.ricksteves.com/books/backdoors/hallstat.htm - - and see if it fits your criteria. Austria "regulars" here on this forum seem to sing the praises of Hallstatt, repeatedly.

Best wishes,

You could try Kitzbuehel. I stayed there for a week a couple of summers ago. Not really a village, more a small town in a valley. Spectacular views all around.

I liked Hallstatt a lot, but it sounds like you might be looking for something more like Heiligenblut, which is more up in the mountains. I haven't been there, but it's on my list for next time.

Hall in Tirol, Igls, Gotzens,Birgitz and Seefeld. These are all near Innsbruck so perhaps others can advise you of other areas of Austria. Hall in Tirol has much history and beautiful old buildings but they are all lovely.
