Gloria,

In mid October of last year, I visited the Fodor people in NYC to offer a collective thank you from us to them for changing the forum format back to what it was after some changes had altered how we connected here. We were very impressed at their responsiveness to us and it was s. fowler who suggested that someone bring a bottle of red wine to Danny Mangin, the Editorial Director as a thank you. I happened to already have plans to go to NYC to visit family and offered to go. I had a great time with these people and the pictures they took of the occasion are still accessible at:
www.fodors.com/forums/art/drbettypics/
pic1.jpg There are 3 pics. The first one has Fabrezzio, the Creative Dir. standing in the doorway (he is from Rome and sports a fine Italian accent), then Aisling, the Producer (she is from Ireland, although her accent is subtle) and she perfomed some interesting technical miracles while I was there and we visited about the Shannon, then is David Downing, the Community Coordinator (among many other things, he is the one that selects the hot threads and did a great piece on NYC for the hosted forum in Oct. and there's me.
Picture 2 is me and then picture 3 has Danny Mangin next to me. Danny used to be a film critic (I think I have that right, I didn't take notes) for salon.com.

So there you have it. Hope this helps welcome any newbies, staves off the blizzard blues and generally contributes to feeling a world wide connection.

Dr. Betty

Sally -- I glad we are able to keep you busy and I appreciate your efforts in linking us all together. Thanks for the nice words about my Giverny page. You can tell I just fell in love with the gardens. No one should go to Paris without a visit to Giverny!

Gloria, I must confess I use a Minolta point and shoot, no tripod. Please don't tell anyone (oops).

I am waiting until I have time to work on my site again as I have what seems like zillions of photos. I'm getting in the mood by looking at the other websites noted in this thread. We have some great photographers among us and they have shown their creativity in designing their pages.

Gloria -- I just noticed that you asked what speed film I used, not what camera I use. I use Fuji, 100 speed.

I have some wonderful travel pics... Some even with me in them! However, they're not on disc or anything.

Not quite sure how to do all the computer stuff (my Mom recently gave me a digital, but I feel I'd have to bring that on my trip ALONG with my big 35mm camera...and tons of lens/batteries...)

Any hints? (I'm thinking of getting a smaller "snap-shot" version of a 35mm...I seem to be getting more rushed and/or concerned w/ weight/expense of a classic camera in my ole age...)
(At least I've never lugged a tripod with me...yet.
(pretty website, Dan)

...ok...just a thought.
Would it be interesting for someone (not me, no clue!) to build a Fodor's "family" website for those of us who just want to get an image of other Fodorites?

Of course that might ruin our own images of who certain folks are...

Whatever?

Monica, i tried your site and once again it doesn't work either. It defaults to a travel site, but i believe is not your website.

For monica's site you need to put in the homestead So it SHOULD be: http://www.luvtotravel.homestead.com/home.html

Whoooooooooops.. just accessed the unofficial site I maintain with IE. I'll get *that* mess fixed pronto!. I'm a netscape kinda gal and there are some stupid tricks IE plays when you use Netscape Composer. I'm really better at web design than *that*!

Thanks Sally for correcting my web address! I'm usually careful with that because it's so long.

If anyone visits my web site, I'd love to hear from you. I have a guest book for people to sign. Thanks!

Sorry, S. Fowler, Reading back my post, I realized I sounded impertinent,,,,I MEANT, I wish Fodor's had some kind of Fav. mugg shots of the devotees(that's what "long overdue" meant; not a reflection on you or your efforts. Judy

Will someone else please take care of this "flamingo" thing? [From me it might seem like "sour grapes" or something.]It looks like a duck to me.

Not to worry, s.fowler, it takes way too long to download, and the content is, to put it kindly, grammatically challenged. But bottom line, it is advertising, pure and simple, so Flamingo, fly away, or fade if you can't fly.

Kudos to Ms. Fowler for her fine work! The Fodor's site is filled with many kind and generous people!
I do appreciate all the posts here and the ones sent to me personally. I do prefer posting to the site, however, if possible, so that all may enjoy. Your graciousness is appreciated.
I am sure there are more pictures out there...do share, please!
Obrigado!
Gloria
