Thanks for posting these jetset! Now, I'm excited, by this time next week I'll be taking my own pics of Amsterdam. I may be taking a pass on the chocolate schlongs but how could anyone resist not getting all patriotic about the Statue of Liberty?

Nice photos. I like how you have included pictures of you and your traveling companions--made the galleries feel very warm and personal.

Now for the questions! Could you lease provide links to the apartments you rented in Amsterdam and Paris...and did you like them? Why or why not?

In any case, it's clear that all of you had a good time! Welcome home and thanks for posting.

We loved all of our lodging.
We would recommend all 3.

Glad you are enjoying the pics...Even the patriotic ones

In Paris each couple had seperate apts..

Our Paris apt. http://www.vrbo.com/250968
Our friends Paris apt. http://www.vrbo.com/166281

In Amsterdam we shared http://www.valens.nl/nlhtmldocs/canalsite.html or http://www.ibbp.com/europe/netherlands/treesmilder.html

Did you do a trip report? If you did, I can't find it. A lot of people are hesitant to use the inland waterways of Europe, and a positive trip report to augment your great photos could reassure them about how wonderful such vacations can be.

I may have mentioned this before on another thread, but you had better watch it; enjoying canal cruising too much. It is addictive!

My friend and his wife rented a boat in Holland a number of years ago, and liked it. They liked it so much they wanted to do it for a whole summer. Renting a boat was too expensive for them, so they bought one, figuring if they did not enjoy it they could sell it at the end of the summer.

They loved it, and are still doing it eight years later. There are, after all, 5,000 miles of navigable waterways in France alone.

Bought their own boat !!! My kind of folks

our first trip was in the South of France. We started in Port Cassafieres and ended in St.Gilles. It was called the flamingo cruise. Aigues Mortes was one of my favorite towns.

those not considering this very affordable kind of holiday is really missing out.

this year the total cost was $2400.00 for 4 people for 7 nights. that is $85.71 per day per person.
included our transportation/lodging/entertainment....
I call that an excellent value.

our boat (clipper) was insuite 2bedroom/2bath. Perfect for 2 couples.
We will get this boat again next time.

Great photos jetset. Such a shame we didn't get to meet up, but having been stood up in Paris I can understand your reluctance to spend more time waiting for someone to turn up. I was just worried something had happened to one of you, so I am glad that wasn't the case!

You were really lucky with the weather!

Love the photos, the wedding part was cool. "Le Boat", love it. All those little cottages look like the ride through Toad Hollow at Disneyland.

jetsetj -- your pix are grand, we were in the Netherlands last week, loved it.

Who is the gentleman who smokes a briarwood tobacco pipe? I only ask because my DH is an avid pipe smoker and collector, attending the pipe show in Las Vegas next weekend.

Briarwood is a type of material, just like cotton or wool for clothes. Whether it is good or not depends on the brand, make, style, year, etc. Value could range from $50 - $5,000 and up, some are considered antiques. I went with DH to an upscale pipe shop (they don't sell weed!)on Spui Street, it was expensively furnished and the tall Dutch salesmen wore well-tailored suits, we felt a bit funny in our hooded rain jackets, jeans and walking shoes but they were extremely polite.

You never know, Capt. Tom's may not be $50 if he can vacation in Europe. DH has picked up several in that range from garage sales and flea markets only to find out they are worth 5 - 10 times more!

Thanks for sharing the info, that's a great airfare rate. We flew SFO-DUB-AMS, 1 week in Ireland and 1 week in the Netherlands with a daytrip to Belgium, unforgettable experience.

If you travel to northern California, let me know.
