Picking up a rental car in Paris

Hello
We are picking up a car in Paris to drive to Provence via Beaune. Where would you suggest that we pick up that would be a short way to the autoroute? We are staying closest to theMontparnasse office. would it be easy to drive out of the city from there. Thanks for your help.

If you rental is longer than 2 days, and I assume that it is, you will pay an extra 40€ location surcharge if you pickup at any airport or train station. There are charges generally assessed at drop off and this is one of them. If you simply pickup a car at any local rental office, even one near your hotel, you will not pay this fee.

Leaving almost anywhere from Paris is not terribly difficult. Take the nearest main road to the Périphérique, orbit around the Périphérique to A6 (on the south southeast side of Paris) and you are on your way.

If money is no object to you, take a taxi to Orly airport, pickup a car at Orly, and A6 is right along side the airport.

of course that is a good location, it's on the same "side" of Paris, and you just go down to the peripherique and then get onto A6 to go to Beaune.

Thank you! We will do that. Is there an extra charge for leaving the car at the airport? We are turning it in on a Sunday (in Rome) and can only return it at the airport although we are not leaving that day. We are already paying dearly for driving to Italy.

Wait...you're renting a car in Paris and leaving it in Rome? Aren't you paying an enormous extra drop-off fee for that?

Is there a reason you're not just taking the train to Beaune and picking up a car there when you're done with your visit?

Taking the train to Beaune could be a good option - but if you do drive you'll be going right past Fontainebleau if you want to drop in!

There is an easy location to pick up a Hertz car in the Carousel du Louvre parking garage. It's the Rivoli address, the pick up in is in the Louvre parking garage, no sign on the street. You exit the garage turn right follow along the Seine and you can get onto the highway easily.
