Yo, L84SKY!
If you're worried about someone getting ahold of your credit card numbers, you really should scratch them off the plastic. If anyone found your card (or a merchant printed its number on a receipt), your secret would be out.
Oh - and demagnetize the strips on the cards. The card numbers are on those, too.

Loveitaly, I am Spanish and live in Spain Certainly I could have another ATM opening an account in another bank but they don't let me to have another credit card, not even if it's a different bank (I've tried, I suppose I'm rather poor for them !). Anyway, I have to pay annually to have the card so I really don't want to pay for more I'm 37 but I'm really interested in security because I'm disabled so I am an "easy victim" of robbers , I cannot run away

Hello Kenderina, I do not know about Spain but in Italy people do not have as many credit card accounts as we seem to here in the US. So I would imagine it is the same in Spain?
What part of Spain do you live in? I have a good friend here in California that was born and raised in Seville. She has her family in Seville so she returns to Spain every year. Seville sounds so beautiful.

Loveitaly, yes, it's the same thing than in Italy I'm from Castellon, a little city 70 km north from Valencia so I'm a Mediterranean spaniard, hehehe.
And yes, Seville is really beautiful. Just avoid visiting it in summer if you can, it's way too hot and sweating all day long is not the best way to enjoy any place

Robespierre,
While I consider myself to be prudent not paranoid, I'll take your advice into consideration.
But seriously, I just don't see the point of writing down your cc # when it isn't necessary and could be lost much easier then the actual card.
BTW (maybe I am just a little paranoid), I never use vendors that have the old fashioned slide cc machine that imprints my cc.
Well, got to run now so I can get busy demagnetizing my cards and DL...
I should find a way to rub off my fingerprints too... I shudder to think what could happen if they fell unto the wrong hands.

As Rick Steves' says: Put your money, tickets, credit cards in a money belt and wear it as you would your underwear. Keep all your personal information in a money belt around your waist or a neck money holder. Always carry this with you.
Happy Travels.

Many thanks! Among other ideas, we have made photo copies of our passports. We are leaving one copy here at the house with relatives and are taking one copy with us. We wrote down our credit card numbers with the lost reporting number and are leaving it hidden in the house at home. We can call in for this information. We have the money belts to take with us that we will wear under our clothing.
